Medical Students & Registrars

Medical Students

The Argyle Medical Group has hosted Medical Students (Trainee Doctors)  in their final years of study from Cardiff University for many years. More recently, we have started receiving students from Swansea University. Each Medical Student spends up to 8 weeks with us in order to gain the experience they need in general practice.

As part of your treatment we may ask you to see a Medical Student, this enables them to gain valuable hands on experience; you will always be seen by a GP at the end of this consultation in order for them to check the findings of the Medical Student.

GP Registrars

The Argyle Medical Group has recently recommenced hosting General Practice Speciality Trainees (GPSTs).

GPSTs are fully qualified doctors training to pursue a career in General practice. Part of their training & evaluation is done in a General practice Surgery specially approved for training by the General practice Section of the School of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education of Cardiff University.

GP Specialist Trainees will therefore be involved in the practice in a similar way to the regular doctors at the surgery. Our trainees will be with us for between 6-12 months at a time.
